Fauna

There are many animals living through in Nirnivia and Ostark; far too many to list, but here are some of the most intriguing:

Dogs

There are dogs in both Nirnivia and Ostark, but not the furry canine type we know and love. Nirnivian dogs look like globs of slime, possessing six tentacles which they tend to rub in people's faces. For some strange reason, they are considered great pets despite this.

Pisack

A pisack is a furry rodent whose biggest distinction is twin bushy tails. They come in a variety of colors, 'most commonly grey and brown, but the occasional black and white can be found. Pisacks are small and generally considered cute. Kids are often attracted to them and must be warned not to approach pisacks for they are savage animals armed with sharp teeth and powerful jaws. They are fond of eating nuts and excel at climbing trees and jumping from branch to branch.

Moglar

Moglars are bipedal giant beasts roughly the size of a grizzly bear. They have brown fur and are armed with devastating claws. Moglars are ferocious and should be avoided at all cost. They have no fear of Gorumars and will attack anyone they encounter without hesitation. Making matters worse, despite their size, they move fast.

Lygers

Lygers are quadruped creatures resembling a big white feline with black stripes. Like a lion, they also sport a mane, though it is always black in color. While they look like predators, they are actually herbivores.

Cytelicus

Do you like pterodactyls? These are basically light blue pterodactyls.

Treenelings

Treenelings are small, humanoid lizard-like creatures covered in scales. They live in trees and are extremely agile. Despite their appearance, they are hot-blooded, not cold-blooded. They are relatively harmless and survive on fruits. The most danger that one faces when meeting a pack of these is being thrown some rotten food as a punishment for invading their territory.

Wargs

Wargs are black, medium-sized quadrupeds who hunt in packs. Wargs are nocturnal and find it easy to see in the dark, a fact they use to their advantage when ambushing their prey. While ferocious, they are not as aggressive as a Moglar and will usually avoid people unless they are very hungry. However, that doesn't change the fact that Wargs are extremely dangerous. Sure, they lack the power and speed of the Moglar, but large enough groups of Wargs are known to sometimes kill one of those giant beasts, though they suffer massive casualties in the process.

Flora

Druikinakas

A blue fruit about the size of a tangerine, though unlike tangerines, the skin is edible. Druikinakas are exceptionally sweet, to the point where an earthling might compare them to gummy candies. Despite this, Druikinakas are filled with vitamins and nutrients. They are by far the most popular fruit in both Nirnivia and Ostark and are eaten raw, juiced and as an ingredient for many desserts such as pies and cakes.

Mishusq

An oval-shaped vegetable with orange skin and a yellowish interior. They have a rather plain taste that is hard to dislike even though it isn't impressive. Due to the fact it is very common, reasonably nutritious, and cheap, it is a staple of Nirnivian cuisine and is often served boiled then mashed, or baked. Some establishments have been known to fry them instead, but it's never really caught on so far.

Pris

Pris is a type of tree and other than one distinctive feature, they look like most of their kind. Then again, with their unique characteristic being blue foliage instead of the traditional green, they draw attention easily. Pris aren't native to the Zargs' territories now inhabited by the whole population, but some of the new arrivals attempted to plant them. The Zargs' lands aren't suited to Pris, yet a few can still be spotted in the wild.

Trotleberries

Trotleberries are small, red, round berries that are said to be rich in antioxidants. They taste sweet, but not nearly as sweet as Druikinakas. Trotleberry pie is very popular, especially with those who find Druikinakas too candy-like for their palate.
